Robert T. Sukup

January 30, 2023

Robert T. “Robbie” Sukup, of Erwinna, PA, formerly of New York, NY, passed away on January 30, 2023, in Doylestown, PA. He was 90 years old.

Born in Manhattan, he was the son of the late Martin T. Sukup and Julia Helisek.

Robbie was the ultimate New Yorker, living there for the majority of his life and working for, then owning an elevator installation and repair company. He could relate the history of many iconic New York buildings. He loved art, volunteering annually at the Tinicum Arts Festival and Stover Mill Gallery.

He met Edith Loss when they were teenagers, and later married in 1967 in New York. They purchased the Bucks County one-room schoolhouse on Headquarters Road, renovating the house with love and care. They sold the schoolhouse and turned their renovation skills to an old farmhouse on Byers Road. Initially spending every weekend in Bucks County, Robbie and Edith retired and moved full time to the Byers Road home. Robbie moved into his River Road home after Edith’s sudden death.

He is survived by three children: Barbara McConnell, William Sukup and Thomas Sukup, six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Robbie is also survived by his companion, Marion Parker, his niece, Kathy Ogle, three other nieces and a nephew and his dog, Cookie.

A celebration of Robbie’s life is planned for a later date.
