Robert “Bob” Mills Viney, Jr., age 77, passed away peacefully on January 21st at home surrounded by his family.

Robert was born in Covina,California to the late Helen (Pritchard) and Robert Mills Viney.

He graduated from Covina High School in 1963 and Pomona College in 1967 where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. He was employed by Burroughs Computer Company (later known as Unisys) for 28 years. His position with Burroughs led Robert to relocate to England where he lived with his first wife, Meredith for five years. His job responsibilities provided him with opportunities to travel to many new places such as Amsterdam, Moscow, South Africa and Sweden. Robert often spoke about these experiences and his fond memories of his travels.

Robert was widowed in 1990. He later met Judith Gotlewski in 1993 and married in 1995. They resided in Lansdale, PA for 29 years. Together they enjoyed traveling, attending shows, dinners out with friends and most importantly spending time with their grandchildren.

Robert was a life-long learner with a keen interest in computers, math, photography and people. He also enjoyed doing home improvement projects.

Robert later attended Drexel University where he earned a Master of Science degree in Education graduating in 2001. He served as an adjunct professor at Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell. Robert took special joy in teaching students that required remedial math instruction in order to achieve their career goals.

Robert was a member of St. Rose of Lima parish in North Wales where he served as a lector and a Eucharistic minister. He was involved with many evangelization programs. He felt privileged to attend retreats at the Malvern Retreat House where he enjoyed sharing his faith with others and with his son, Jim.

In addition to his wife, Judith, he is survived by his daughter, Michelle, step-sons, James (Catherine) Gotlewski and John (Wendy) Gotlewski, grandchildren: Amanda, Alex, John, Katie, Emily, Joseph, Ibrahim, Talitha, Alyson and Carolyn, and great-grandchildren: Evie and Declan as well as his son-in-law, James Craine and brother, James P. Viney.

In addition to his first wife, Meredith, Robert was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Amy Craine in 2017.

Family and friends are invited to attend Robert’s Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 27 at St. Rose of Lima Church Catholic Church, 424 South Main Street, North Wales, where the family will greet guests from 10 a.m., until the time of Mass. Interment will follow Mass in Doylestown Cemetery.
