William Gordon Allin, of Doylestown, PA known affectionately as Bill, passed away on November 7, 2024, at the age of 88. Born in Bristol, Virginia, Bill's life was characterized by his boundless optimism and a deep commitment to his family. He often expressed a hope to reach 101 years, a testament to his zest for life.
In 1972, Bill married Judith Elizabeth Allin, marking the beginning of a loving partnership that lasted over five decades until Judith's passing on October 9, 2022. Together, they blended their families into the Allin-Hicks Bunch, consisting of his two biological children and Judy's four children. His love extended to his eight grandchildren and one great grandchild, who brought immense joy to his life.
A man of charitable service, Bill was an esteemed member of the Doylestown Lions Club for over 30 years. He held the position of Director for years as well as the positions of 2nd VP, 1st VP, and President, known for his dedication to Camp Kirby. All benefited greatly from his contributions. His professional life was equally distinguished, spanning from management in textiles to becoming a vice president of sales in franchises and computers. Bill's academic achievements were rooted in his education at North Carolina State, coupled with his commitment to his country, serving as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judith, and stepchildren, Michael and Kathryn Hicks, Bill leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and community involvement with many organizations.
Survived by his children: Julie Allin, Eric Allin, Mark Hicks, and Brian Hicks. Grandchildren, Tyler Allin, Lindsey Allin, Mathew Allin, Erika Hicks, Dan Hicks, Doug Hicks, Jessica Hicks, and Sara Hicks. And his great grandchild, Carter Hicks.
Relatives and friends are invited to his memorial service at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Reed and Steinbach Funeral home, Doylestown, where the family will greet guests from 12 p.m., until the time of the service. A luncheon will follow the service at the Village of Buckingham Springs, on Durham Rd, New Hope. The interment will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2024 in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler, where he will rest beside his wife, Judy. All who knew and cherished Bill are welcome to attend all events and celebrate his remarkable life.
