Walter R. Ottey, Jr., of Gettysburg, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2019 at his residence. He was 60.
Born in Abington, he was the son of Walter Reynolds Ottey and the late Dolores Marie Drabousky.
Walter graduated from Central Bucks East High School, from Kutztown University with a bachelor’s degree and from Western Maryland College with a Master of Science degree. He was a teacher in the Gettysburg School District and acknowledged by students as one of the most interesting and inspiring teachers they had. Having spent much time in Russia, he brought back a world of knowledge for his students.
Walt was an avid swimmer and reader of the Bible. He loved the ocean, riding waves and scuba diving, especially at night in the tropics.
Well loved by his family, he was always entertaining them with his beautiful smile and comedic talents. He will be very much missed, having left a hole in all our hearts.
In addition to his father, Walt is survived by his son: Brendan Reynolds Ottey and his siblings: Dolores Marie Tuschall, Valarie Ottey Magnus, Theodore Wesley Ottey, John Nicholas Ottey, Steven Blair Ottey, as well as many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service 11 a.m., Friday, January 25, 2019 at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown, where the family will receive guest from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be private.
