Walter Norman Holkey, a lifelong resident of Doylestown, died on Friday, September 16 at 89 years of age.
He was the oldest son of the late Walter Elwood Holkey and Hannah Naylor Holkey.
He is survived by his three children: Sharon Holkey, Dawn Slade, her husband, Bill and Mark Holkey, his wife, Darla and his four grandchildren: Bianca Lara, Jordan Holkey, Ian Holkey and Andrew Holkey.
Over the years, Norman owned three family restaurants and after selling his last business, focused on being a Chef. He enjoyed a classic cheese steak as much as a fine filet. He loved to listen to Bluegrass music and played along on his banjo, guitar or dobro. In warmer weather, gardening and golf were his hobbies. He achieved the lofty accomplishment of having four hole-in-ones. When the weather turned cold, he crafted small carvings and furniture. He belonged to the New Hope Lions Club and enjoyed volunteering at the annual New Hope Auto Show.
