Verne Hoffman, a lifelong resident of Bucks County passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Quakertown Center, with his family at his bedside. He was 79 and the loving husband for 54 years of Mary-Ann Leibfried Hoffman.

Born in Doylestown, he was the son of the late Walter and Virginia Woodring Hoffman.

Verne was preceded in death by his cherished daughter, Lorrie Ann Hoffman.

Verne was a graduate of Central Bucks High School, class of 1954. He served in the US Navy from 1955 until 1959 and was employed by Standard Pressed Steel from 1960 until 1971 in quality control management.

Verne and Mary-Ann started and operated their business, American Rentals Inc. in Doylestown from February 1971 until April 2010.

For a brief time the Hoffmans were residents of Doylestown until they completed building their home in Pipersville where they lived for 34 years, moving to their current home in Sellersville in November 1995.

Verne was a member and held office in the Delaware Valley Rental Association, he was
a member of the American Rental Association, the West Rockhill Historical Society and held office in the Mercer Car Club.

Verne enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at holidays, picnics and gatherings held at their home. He restored a 1928 Model A Ford. Fun adventures and vacations were taken in the “A”. He was happy to get his dream car ~ his 1959 T-Bird convertible. Vacations to countries in Europe and to US cities to attend rental conventions gave him many wonderful memories.

In addition to his wife, Verne is survived by his sister, Doris Olser; his nieces: Lynn (Marvin Williams) Osler and Jody (Casey) Jones; his nephews: Kurt ( Trudy) Hoffman, Karl (Lauren) Hoffman, Kris Hoffman, Bill Osler, Rory (Liz) Osler and Edward J. (Amy) Leibfreid. Also surviving are his grand-nieces: Hannah Hoffman, Caitlyn ( Dave) Kimenhour, Mackenzie Jones and Sydney Osler and his grand-nephews: Adam Hoffman, Parker Hoffman, Morgan Jones and Jason Leibfreid; his great grand-niece: Kayla Kimenhour and his great grand-nephew: Blaine Hoffman. He was predeceased by his brother: Walter Hofffman, his brothers-in-law: William Osler and Edward C. Leibfreid and his grand-niece: Olivia Hoffman.

His family hopes everyone will remember his smile, kindness, sense of humor, his appetite and if asked how he was, his answer would always be “wonderful”. The family extends their heart felt gratitude to all who loved him and for their support and caring concern, including the team at Quakertown Center for the compassionate care Verne received.

Respecting Verne’s wishes, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, if you choose to do so, donations in Verne’s memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
