Valerie F. Gardner, a beloved community figure and proud business owner, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025, at Ann's Choice Erickson Senior Living in Warminster, Pennsylvania, at the age of 98. Born on July 15, 1926, in Birmingham, England, Valerie’s journey through life was one marked by love, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to her community.

Valerie's professional legacy began with her venture into the world of fabrics. From 1977 to 2002, she owned Sew Smart Fabrics in Doylestown, PA, where her passion for creativity flourished. Under her stewardship, her business was honored with numerous awards, consistently being recognized as one of the best places to shop in Doylestown. Valerie’s warm presence not only made her customers feel at home but also fostered a welcoming atmosphere that drew many into the realm of sewing and crafting.

A woman of many interests, Valerie found joy in reading, playing bridge, and spending time at the beach. Her love for travel took her to various destinations, each adventure adding a new layer to her vibrant personality. Cooking was another passion, as she often delighted family and friends with her culinary creations. Valerie was also an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, where she contributed her time and spirit to nurturing her community. Her involvement with Doylestown Health VIA and Newcomers of Doylestown further illustrated her commitment to fostering connections and support among those around her.

Valerie is remembered not just for her business acumen but for the warmth she radiated, making everyone feel welcome in her presence. She is survived by her loving family, her grandchildren: Gregory E. Ludvik of Baltimore, MD and Erica Gardner of San Luis Obispo, CA; her mother-in-law role to Debbie Gardner, CA (wife to the late Roger Gardner) and Edward Ludvik of Cleveland, OH (former husband to Lorna V. Ludvik); and her cherished sister, Lorna Iden of Lewes, Sussex, England. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roland C. Gardner (d. 1999), her son, Roger F. Gardner (d. 1979) and daughter, Lorna V. Ludvik (d. 2011), and her brother, Neil Muddiman.

Valerie F. Gardner leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and community spirit that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 84 East Oakland Avenue, Doylestown.
