Thomas Michael LoCasale passed away on March 27, 2017, at Neshaminy Manor in Warrington. He was 79. Tom was raised in Philadelphia but spent the last 56 years in Bucks County (42 years in Doylestown).
Tom is survived by his wife, Joan (Tarris), with whom he shared 55 wonderful years of marriage. He is also survived by son, Gregory (Anne-Jarrell), daughter, Maria Bereschak (John) and grandchildren: Michael, Katherine, Danielle, Jack and John. Surviving siblings are Joseph (Mary Anne), Emelia Gorman, Edward (Julie) and dear cousin Marilyn Mascieri. Tom is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Andrew.
Tom was a proud graduate of Bishop Newman/South Catholic High School. He received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Villanova University and a Master of Science and Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
He started his career working in research and development at UNIVAC and was privileged to have worked on the first solid state computer, for which he received several patents for circuitry. Tom later worked at Aydin Corporation where he was the Vice President of Systems and Telecommunications. He then spent 5 years at ABB as Manager of Research & Development before retiring. Tom was a lifetime member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Tom’s interests included ballroom dancing, woodcarving, chess, ornithology and travel. Throughout his life, he enjoyed “learning” and for several years was a member of the Questers Organization. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by many.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown where the family will receive guests from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be held privately.
