Stanley E. Herstine of Buckingham passed away at home on Monday, February 6, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was 84 years old. Stan was the devoted husband to Patricia Weiler Herstine, whom he still introduced as his bride after 55 years of marriage.
Born in Erwinna, he was the son of the late Mary Kaminski and Horace Herstine. He was a graduate of Frenchtown High School and Churchman Business School.
Stan loved life and appreciated all of the blessings God gave him. Throughout his life he had a high work ethic. He was the consummate workaholic, always striving to provide well for his family. He worked in building supply sales for various firms in the Doylestown area before establishing his own business, A&S Building Supply. He also used his accounting skills to start Herstine Associates, a successful tax preparation business that is still in the family 50 years later.
Stan’s passion for music led him to the saxophone as a junior in high school. He went on to play with The Rhythmaires, taking their big band sound to audiences across Pennsylvania and New Jersey for 40 years.
He is survived by his wife Patricia and their five children, Michael Herstine (Christina), Chas Herstine (Isabelle), Tricia Austin (Fred), Helene Herstine and Christopher Herstine. He felt truly blessed with his five granddaughters, Brittany Austin and Kelly, Emily, Jeanne, and Anna Herstine. He is also survived by his sister, Mary E. Smith. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Herstine.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral Mass which will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 11 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 5175 Cold Spring Creamery Road, Doylestown, Pa. 18902, where the family will receive guests from call from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow Mass in Saint Mary Cemetery, Doylestown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Stanley’s name may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church for the Parish Life Center Capital Campaign, at the address above.
