Sarah Elizabeth “Sally” Willett, age 92, of Doylestown Pennsylvania, began her peaceful journey of eternal rest on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from the comfort of her own home embraced by the loving warmth of her devoted family. She was the loving wife of the late Charles A. Willett.
Sarah was born on November 13, 1932 in Gloucester, Massachusetts at Addison General Hospital. She was the daughter of George and Catherine Doucette. Sarah was always a curiously creative little girl who truly enjoyed the outdoors.
On September 20, 1952 she was united in wedlock to Charles A. Willett. They were married for forty-four incredible years.
She is survived by her seven children and their spouses: Elizabeth A. and Michael Wunder, Christopher G. Willett and Russ Gaskill, Sarah E. and John Efkowitz, Charles A., Jr. and Deborah Willett, Catherine F. and John Wright, George F. and Krys Willett, Ruth A. and Jesse Langer; adopted daughter Traci and Brian Jones; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
As the years passed, she would discover her true calling for the arts. Known for her storytelling and wordsmithing, she incorporated those strengths into her writing. As a passionate owner of a distinguished art gallery in Peddler’s Village, she became a profound philanthropist, donating to museums, Native American tribes, and various art initiations on both a local and global scale. A monument of her local generosity still resides in the Doylestown Hospital in the shape of a hand-painted stone fastened to the entrance of the Emergency Wing that displays her full name. Sarah’s family and friends continue to carry out a long tradition of blessing the monument with a kiss for good luck when they walk the halls. Her passion for exploration would become a close second to her fondness for the arts. Over the years, she fell in love with many diverse destinations, such as Good Harbor and Braces Cove, but her most beloved destination was Venice.
Sometimes in life, the words in which we search to describe a specific individual fall well short of their overall goal. Simply put, Sarah E. Willett will always be known as an irreplaceable force of kindness. With this loss, we say goodbye to a magnificent daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Although it feels like we are losing a piece of ourselves, we will never lose her sense of humor.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2024, Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown, where relatives and friends will be received from 10 a.m, until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Willliam Penn Cemetery, Philadelphia.
