Sabina E. “Bonnie” Volko, age 87, a resident of Doylestown, died on July 29, 2024.
Born in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late William Scully and the late Sara Black Scully. She graduated from Little Flower High School and then attended Delaware Valley University in Doylestown.
Sabina was employed as a medical secretary at the Naval Air Station in Willow Grove until her retirement. She was a life-long member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She was a devout Catholic and loved praying the rosary. She was often asked by friends and family to pray for special intentions, as we think she had a special connection to the blessed mother and her prayers were always answered.
Sabina loved to spend time with her grandchildren and often babysat or took them to the local pool, Fanny Chapman. She loved animals and had many pets throughout the years, including her beloved, Tobi. Being a life-long learner, she enjoyed taking classes. She also enjoyed shopping and buying for others.
She is survived by her children: Susan V. Barth (Gerry) and Michael T. Volko (Erin); grandchildren: Collin, Erin, Riley, Tommy, Pat, Grace and Luke; sisters: Ceil McKenna and MaryJane Mautz and brother, William Scully.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 235 E. State Street, Doylestown, where family and friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery.
