Ruth Hopkins

d. December 2, 2020

Ruth Hopkins of Doylestown, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2020, at home surrounded by her family.

Born in 1926 to the late Ethel Jacobus and Herman Sebastian, Ruth worked at Bell Telephone and was known to snack on fries during lunch breaks and take rides around the block on the back of a motorcycle when she was feeling particularly sassy.

After World War II, she met Warren W. Hopkins, and they were married in 1950. For 62 years they were dedicated to each other and their community. Since 1970, they were committed members of First Baptist Church of Doylestown, where for decades their Small Group Fellowship provided genuine support as together they met and prayed in each others’ homes. Ruth volunteered at Doylestown Hospital and Welcome House.

We were blessed to have learned many things from Ruth while she was among us: how to make hot dog pie, pineapple casserole and pretzel jello salad, how to stay awake through an entire baseball game and what kinds of flowers will grow best in the yard all summer.

Her oft said phrases like ‘aw fiddlesticks’, ‘aye yai yai’ and ‘never you mind’ will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her daughter: Valerie, her son: John, his wife, Teresa and her grandchildren Echo and Corin.

Services and interment will be private.
