Ruth Birk Huntzinger of Doylestown passed away peacfully on March 30, 2019. She was 93, just shy of her 94th birthday.
She was a devoted wife for 56 years to the late, Wendell L. Huntzinger. Ruth was also a beloved sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Edward F. and Alice Williams Birk.
Ruth graduated from Wilkes Barre High School, class of 1943. She earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania, as well a master’s degree. Ruth taught in the Philadelphia School System for ten years and in the Pennridge School District for 20 years. She retired from teaching high school mathematics at Pennridge High School in 1981.
Ruth had been a resident of Doylestown Township since 1964. She was a member of Doylestown Presbyterian Church, the University Women’s Club and Indian Valley Country Club.
She is survived by her two daughters: Deborah Huntzinger Herting and Kimberly Huntzinger Buck, her husband, James E. Buck II; grandchildren: Jonathan and Christopher Herting and Travis and Ainsley Buck and great-grandchildren, Carter, Kinlee and Saylor Herting. Ruth is also survived by her brother, Edward Birk and her sister, Alice Birk Enderwick. She was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Birk Gibat.
Services and interment will be held privately.
