Ronald J. MacDonald passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025 at age 81 with his beloved wife of 53 years at his side.
Ron was born in Rochester, NY to the late John and Jane (Clark) MacDonald. He attended East Rige High School in Rochester, NY and graduated in 1961. He graduated from SUNY Geneseo in 1965 with a major in English. Afterwards he enlisted in the United States Army as a Military Policeman stationed at Fort Belvoir, VA where he was stationed from 1966 through 1969. He was married to Joanne (Holleran) MacDonald in 1972 and moved to Doylestown, PA in 1983 where they raised their two sons Mark and Brian.
Ron had a 35 plus year career in sales and sales management finishing out his career at Lafayette Venetian Blinds for the last 15 years before retiring in 2009. After retirement, he volunteered at Our Lady of Mount Carmel school as a teacher’s aide where his wife taught. He then became a substitute teacher and teacher’s aide for special education students for 6 years in Central Buck’s school district.
Ron is survived by his wife, Joanne and his sons Mark (Brooke) and Brian (Judy). He is grandfather to 8 grandchildren Dillon, Patrick, Jack, Molly, Reid, Alex, Max, and Connor. He is also uncle to three nephews Jody, Sean, and Lonny as well as five grandnephews Jonathan, Tyler, Thomas, Trevor, and Christopher. He is predeceased by his identical twin brother Donald (Lynn).
Ron enjoyed golf and played in a league with friends and was an active member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish for 43 years along with being an usher for 14 years.
Ron was a wonderful and loving husband with a great sense of humor and a very kind way of engaging with everyone he came in contact with. He was very devoted to his family and always made spending time with his wife, sons, and grandchildren the highest priority at all times. He will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friend are invited to his funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 235 East State Street, Doylestown, where the family will greet guests from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m. Private interment in Washington Crossing National Cemetery will be at a future date.
