Rodney D. Sapp of Doylestown, passed away on November 14, 2017. Rod was the devoted and loving husband of Jean Marie Sapp.
Born and raised in Parkersburg, West Virginia, he was the son of Helen and William B. West and the late Ray F. Sapp.
Rod was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and earned a degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from West Virginia University and a Master of Business Administration from West Virginia University.
Rod met his wife while they were both attending evening graduate classes at Loyola College in Maryland.
At that time, Rod had already begun his long career with Unisys Corporation as a Program Marketing Manager. He took on a number of Sales Support positions, worked with the Program Management team and then became a Director of Strategic Programs in Platform Marketing. Rod subsequently took responsibility for several product lines. Following this experience, he served as a Vice President, most recently of Security and Cloud Product Management Technology. Rod was well respected and served Unisys with distinction throughout his career.
Unisys has expressed the following: “In many ways Rod represented the best of Unisys and Unisys associates. Rod brought energy, insight and integrity into everything he did. He would constantly add new thoughts to almost any discussion. His approach to project and program management was exemplary and paved the way for the current expansion of those skills in the Technology organization. But what we expect we will most remember Rod for is his warmth, good humor and quiet modesty, which always provided a gloss on his overwhelming competence – making it easy for others to accept his ideas and advance the company.”
During his personal time, Rod was an avid runner, loved to read and enjoyed music and attending concerts. He was such a passionate runner that he was able to successfully complete several Boston Marathons, as well as the Chicago, Marine Corps and Kiawah Island Marathons. Over the years, Rod loved traveling with his wife, especially to Martha’s Vineyard.
Rod was devoted to his family and loved spending holidays, vacations and special family celebrations with them. His family especially enjoyed his kindness, sense of humor and infectious laugh.
In addition to his wife and his parents, he is survived by his brothers, Dan (Theresa), David (Kristen), Jeff (Sino), his stepbrothers, Jeff and Paul West and his nephews and niece, Dylan, Cody, Brian, Andy, Jamie, Johnathan, and Helena Sapp, as well as his sister-in-law, Rosemarie and his brother-in-law, Paul. Rod was predeceased by his brother, Michael Clay; his stepsister, Linda; his brother-in-law, Joe and his mother and father-in-law, Nancy and Norbert Rottloff.
