In the early morning hours of August 22, 2024, Robert Dreyer, age 79, passed peacefully and entered his eternal home with his Lord and Savior.
The son of Robert and Lucille Dreyer, Bob was born in Brooklyn, NY, just a few houses away from the girl who would soon become the love of his life.
He graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School in 1962 and went on to graduate from Queensborough Community College in 1965 where he studied Applied Science. He and the girl down the block, Christine, became teenage sweethearts and went on to marry on November 19, 1966. They welcomed a son, Scott Matthew, in 1972 and 12 years later welcomed a daughter, Keri Kim, through adoption.
Bob worked for Consolidated Edison, a New York City public utility company for 23 years. In 1989 he left Con Edison to become a School Plant Manager for the New York City Board of Education and was responsible for managing a custodial team for 35 public schools. He went on to retire in July of 2009.
Corvettes, building with his hands and tinkering were Bob’s most loved interests and pastimes. When it came to house projects, his famous words were, “I could do that,” always wanting to try with his own hands first before hiring a contractor. Cars in general, but specifically Corvettes, sparked a childlike excitement in him. When driving in the car together, he couldn’t help but point out the year and model of Corvettes we passed along the way. He was an active member and deacon in Grace Baptist Church of Highland Falls, NY and Lighthouse Baptist Church in Doylestown, PA.
Bob leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Christine; two children, Scott (Cheryl) and Keri (Brian) and seven grandchildren, Max, Ben, Sam, Eve, Eden, Judah and Miriam.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday, August 29th at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown. A visitation and memorial service will be hosted on Friday, August 30th, visitation starting at 10:30 with the service beginning at 11am at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 2622 Durham Road, Buckingham, PA 18912.
