Mike (The King, Shemp, Ski, Har, South Philly, Crazy Man) Sciarra of Doylestown PA passed away the evening of Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 7:30pm in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family. He was 58 years old.
He was born on July 20, 1965 to parents, Sam, Sciarra and Elizabeth (nee, Sinko) Sciarra, and was raised in the Feltonville section of Philadelphia. He was the middle child to his older brother, Sam Sciarra and younger sister, Jennifer Sciarra.
Mike attended Dockerty High School, ending those years at Olney High. From a child Mike loved to work with his hands; one of his first jobs was assembling fluorescent lights at the Simkar Lighting Company. He spent the last 22 years at Boro Construction where he was a “Field Superintendent” for a mechanical contractor.
Mike was a lover of food, which was perfectly paired with his wife Karen’s delicious culinary skills. Two of Mike’s favorite pastimes were hanging out with friends beside, or in, his beautiful pool (the second pool’s the charm!) and drinking coffee while watching the world go by in his cozy sunroom.
Although Mike wouldn’t have called himself a fanatical sports fan, he did love those Eagles and had a blast, as a teenager, sneaking alcohol into the old Veterans Stadium (if you know, you know) to watch those Phillies in the World Series.
Though a lifelong resident of Philadelphia and the surrounding area, Mike loved to travel: Hawaii, Germany, the Kentucky Derby and Italy being some of his favorites. He always traveled first class and with his sweetie, Karen.
Mike’s only job with his furry-companions was snuggling them and getting lots of doggy kisses. Both Goldendoodles: Beloved Shelley who passed in 2016 and his current bestie Molly, who already misses him terribly.
In 2019 Mike married the love of his life, Karen Lewis. They have resided in Doylestown for the last 7 years in the house Mike painstakingly and lovingly built with his family and many generous friends.
Mike is survived by: his beloved wife, Karen (nee, Lewis) Sciarra, his beloved children: Michael (Mandy), Alexandra (Raymond) and Anthony and his stepchildren: Paige McCloskey and Bailey McCloskey. Mike was blessed with two beautiful grandchildren: Gio and Cassidy, and one on the way.
Mike was preceded in death by: his father, Sam Sciarra, his best friend, Timmy Rudzinski and his furry-companion, Shelley.
During his life, Mike has been called a great and supportive friend, one of the good ones and a great guy. But his favorite ways to describe himself were husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by many.
Family will gather for a celebration of Mike’s life on Sunday, October 22, 2023. Friends are welcome to join the family, casual dress is acceptable, at: 46 Pebblewoods Drive Doylestown Pa. 18901, from 1-2 pm. The service will begin promptly at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers donations in Mike’s honor may be made to: Kin Wellness and Support Center, 2325 Heritage Center, Suite 113, Furlong, PA 18925 or at: https://www.welcometokin.org/donate-form )
