Mark Nelson Dauber passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2022, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Doylestown, Mark started school at the old Doylestown High School, attending Linden Elementary and Lenape Middle School, graduating CB West High School (‘76), Bucks County Community College (‘78), and Del-Val (‘83). In 1978 he began a 44-year career at Doylestown Hospital, working in the Housekeeping Department, where he met his future wife, Denise, in 1995.
Following in his mother’s footsteps, Mark was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He was also a member of The Knights of the Golden Eagle, serving on the Scholarship Committee awarding college scholarships to our local CBSD High School graduates.
Mark’s love of Doylestown was well known, and together with Kevin Jameson and Mark Beard, he helped create the “Tops of Town” poster celebrating Doylestown’s architecture. In 2015 he worked with the Doylestown Historical Society to fill a time capsule buried on the grounds of the Bucks County Justice Center to be opened in 2115.
Mark was known for his incredibly kind and gentle spirit. Everyone who knew him loved him. A man of simple pleasures, he loved chocolate, the fall foliage, raking leaves, his family, and his cherished wife of 25 years best of all. Marrying into a large and boisterous family, he more than rose to the occasion. He was a devoted husband, incredible stepfather and doting grandfather, affectionately known as Marky Mark.
He is survived by his wife, Denise; stepchildren: Kristy Humes (Jim Cowen), Justin (Sarah) Humes, and Dan (Danielle) Humes; six grandchildren: Justin Jr, Anthony, Mila, Jonathan, Elle, and Patrick Humes; sister-in-law Patricia Dauber; nieces and nephews: Jerusha (Jose Daniel) Fenco, Esther (Tim) Hammell, and Taylor Dauber; great nieces and nephews: Sophia, Shelby, and Joshua Fenco and Riley and Benjamin Hammell; as well as a large extended family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Nelson A. Dauber and Christina (nee: Taylor) Dauber, and his brother, George Irwin Dauber.
His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2023 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 301 N. Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 where the family will greet guests from 9:30 until the time of the service. Mark selflessly donated his body to “Humanities Gift Registry” to educate future healthcare professionals. Interment will be privately held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mark’s name may be made to the Endowment Fund at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at the above address or at http://www.doylestownlutheran.org
