Marjorie S. Moorhead, a lifelong resident of Bucks County, died peacefully Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at Neshaminy Manor with family by her side. She was 89 and the wife of the late Dwight David Moorhead, who passed away in April, 1983.
Born in the original Doylestown Hospital at Pine and Oakland Streets, she was the daughter of the late Miles and Josephine Koetzle Slack.
Marjorie graduated from Buckingham High School in 1946, where she lettered in softball, played field hockey, loved gymnastics and excelled academically.
She served for many years as a Brownies and Girl Scout leader, active in Parent Teacher Associations for her daughters’ schools, and worked in school libraries.
Marjorie was an active member of Doylestown Presbyterian Church and the TLA (To Live Again) organization, once based in Doylestown, helping others process grief. She was an active member of the Old York Road Sportscar Club, loved cooking, taking care of plants and flowers, gardening as well as writing letters and sending cards to her many nieces and nephews. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Marjorie is survived by 3 daughters: Sharon M. Schanbacker, her husband, Skip, of Doylestown, Evelyn M. Bolehala of Milford, PA and June Johnson of Milford, PA; 5 grandchildren, 6 great- grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Marjorie was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Meghan; her sister, Freda Heston and brothers, Fred and Miles Slack.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service 11 a.m., Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Doylestown Presbyterian Church, 127 East Court Street, Doylestown, PA 18901, where the family will receive guests after 10 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in Neshaminy Warwick Cemetery, Warminster.
