Marion G. Cole, of Doylestown, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Pine Run Health Center. She was 89 and the wife for 49 years of the late William G. Cole, who passed in 2006.
Born in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Richard H. and Harriet D. Meissner Giering.
Marion grew up in the Lehigh Valley during the depression. She graduated from Wilson High School and attended Moravian College. Marion worked at Mack Printing Company in Easton prior to moving to Doylestown in 1957. She was a secretary for Boy Scouts of America in Doylestown, Salem United Church of Christ and Doylestown Presbyterian Church.
Marion was known for having a great sense of humor and love of music. She enjoyed word games and puzzles. Marion sang in various choirs, including Bach Choir of Bethlehem, Love Notes at Doylestown Presbyterian Church and Abington Oratorio Choir. She also played soprano and tenor recorder with several ensembles. Marion also participated in classes at the Center for Learning in Retirement at Delaware Valley University and was group secretary.
She is survived by her niece, Zena (James) Yarbrough, her nephew, Henry Strub (Maria), all of Winston-Salem NC, her sister-in-law, Marilyn (Jack) Schmidt of Chicago IL and her cousin, Elizabeth (Pete) Wilt of Hendersonville, NC.
Relatives and friends are invited to her memorial service 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 6 at the The Hub Pub, Pine Run Retirement Community, 777 Ferry Road, Doylestown. Interment will be private.
