Marilyn Ann Talerico (McClure) of Perkasie passed away on Saturday, December 15 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She was 69 years old. Meme, as her friends called her, fought a courageous battle for more than 16 years against Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Born in Danville, Illinois, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Leland and Mary (Snyder) McClure. Her parents were both from West Decatur, PA. After spending a few years in Olive Hill, KY, Meme resided in Haverford, PA where she attended Haverford High School. She was a graduate of Millersville University where she earned a BA in Elementary and Special Education. She finished her education with a MA in Education from Penn State University.
Meme loved her career as an Elementary teacher. She taught for 34 years in the Pennridge School District, teaching at both East Rockhill (Deibler Elementary) and West Rockhill Elementary. She loved her classes and provided nurturing care and knowledge to her 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders. Meme developed lasting relationships with many of her colleagues.
Meme was a devoted wife to her husband, Vince. They were married for 46 years. Her greatest joys were her two daughters: Lauren Elizabeth and Kaitlin Claire; her grandsons: Quincy and Xavier and her granddaughter, Delaney. She encouraged and supported each of them through every endeavor they embarked on. Meme found great happiness spending time with her grandchildren creating fun experiences for them.
Meme was a loving and caring person, touching many in her life. She had a great sense of adventure and loved to travel, planning many hiking and sightseeing trips across the United States and abroad. She especially loved vacationing with her husband, family, and friends in Maine, hiking and kayaking through Acadia National Park and along the Appalachian Trail. It was always fun to be with Meme–she was a positive influence and a source of inspiration for those around her. She is and will continue to be dearly missed.
After her teaching career, Meme spent time volunteering at the Pearl S. Buck House. She enjoyed quilting and sewing. She was a member of a quilting guild and also belonged to a bowling league. She continued to maintain lasting friendships, regularly getting together with friends to dine out, play cards, and more. She also enjoyed riding her bicycle and traveling with her husband.
In addition to her husband, Vincent Talerico, Meme is survived by her two daughters: Lauren and Kaitlin, her sons-in-law, Joshua Klimovich and Chris Bates, and her grandchildren, Quincy and Xavier Klimovich and Delaney Bates.
A memorial service to celebrate Meme’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 12 at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home; 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown, where an informal gathering will begin at 10 a.m. with the memorial service to follow. Interment will be private.
