Lucinda C. Wester of Doylestown passed Monday, Aug. 22, 2016 at Pine Run Health Center with her daughters by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward E. Wester Jr., who died in 1982.
Born in New York, she was the daughter of the late William and Hazel Casey Gutmann. She lived in New Jersey prior to moving to the Doylestown area in 1970.
Lucinda loved traveling, the Jersey shore, playing bridge and Scrabble, and her Encores “gourmet” lunch group. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s musical and athletic events.
She was an honorary member of the VIA and volunteered for over 30 years in Doylestown Hospital’s ER. She was also a member of Doylestown Presbyterian Church.
Lucinda is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Mahanes and Dolores Shaw (George); her grandchildren, Laura Polchan (Clinton) and Kevin Shaw (Lauren); and her great grandchildren, Kaylie, Gwenyth, and Ryan. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Walsh, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Roland Gutmann and William Gutmann Jr.; her sister, Helen Denk; and her son-in-law, Walter Mahanes.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 3, at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown, where the family will receive guests from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be held privately.
