Lois Burek, age 98, a resident of Ottsville, PA, formerly of Rileyville, PA and Kearny, NJ. passed away on July 21, 2024 at the home she shared with her daughter and son-in-law. She was the wife of the late Edward Burek.
Born in Kearny, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Rieck and the late Mavena Parker Rieck.
She graduated from Kearny High School.
Lois was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker and grandmother. After raising her children, she worked for Savage Hardware Store.
She enjoyed traveling to visit her family and friends. She especially enjoyed going back to Kearny, NJ to visit with and play cards with her best friend, Wanda Preczewski. She enjoyed playing bridge at the Honesdale Senior Center.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Frank and Joyce Burek, Edward and Kathy Burek, Lois- Anne Burek and Matthew McMillen; grandchildren; Alison, Kate , and Jon Burek . The last of her generation, she is remembered by the following generations of the Madej, Burek, and Rieck Families.
Precious to Lois and our family was the time spent with her husband’s brother Ray, wife Helen, and family.
Relatives and friends will be received from 10 ~ 11 a..m., on Friday, July 26, 2024, Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 Main Street, Honesdale, Pennsylvania. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Church Cemetery, Equinunk, Pennsylvania.
