Lobin D. Wylie

d. June 28, 2023

Lobin Dean Wylie, 85, of Doylestown, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 28th, 2023.

Lobin was born in Garrard, Kentucky to Haison and Pearl Wylie. He was the beloved brother of his sisters: Valora (Val) and Alteha (Pat), and brothers: Granton (Cliff), Marvin and Stacy.

During his early years, he had many accomplishments, including being named prom king. One accomplishment he was particularly proud of was that he played on his high school basketball team in which him and his four teammates went on to be the number one ranked team in all of Kentucky.

Lobin moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania soon after he graduated high school. It was there that Lobin started a family and raised four children: Steven, Richard, Trish and Timothy. He moved to Bucks County in 1967 and put down roots. He worked in the dairy industry for more than 35 years. His son, Timothy, lovingly likes to joke that he is “the milkman’s son.” When he was not working, he enjoyed coaching his sons, Steven and Richard, on their baseball teams. In 1976, he purchased his home in Westwyk in Doylestown where he resided until his illness.

Besides the company of his family, Lobin, or just Dean as he was also known, cherished his time spent with the dog show community. He was an active member in several of the local and national dog clubs, including the Hatboro Dog Club, Delaware Valley German Shepard Club, German Shepard Club of America and American Kennel Club. He was a member of Delaware Valley German Shepard Club and Hatboro Dog Club for more than 50 years and held the position of President in both at one point. He enjoyed judging at shows, as well as sharing his knowledge and providing guidance to newcomers and other members. He cherished the relationships he made over his five decades with the clubs and considered them his second family.

Later in life, Lobin continued to attend shows when he was able and enjoyed traveling to them with his daughter, Trish. He could also be found visiting his son, Timothy, at his restaurant. Before his illness, you could guarantee on finding Lobin in one of the corner tables at Nat’s Pizza enjoying a bottle of ice tea while he worked on scratching off a few of his favorite crossword scratch off tickets.

Lobin is survived by three of his children, Steven, his wife Colleen, Timothy and Trish, as well as his two grandchildren, Katelyn and Kyle.

Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 1st at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown, where the family will greet guests from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Doylestown Cemetery.
