Lida Coulter

d. January 31, 2019

It is with profound sadness to all whose lives she touched that we announce the passing of Lida Coulter of Doylestown on January 31st, 2019 at Neshaminy Manor in Warrington. She was 96 years young and the loving wife of the late William Thompson Coulter.

Born in Frackville, PA she was the daughter of the late Chilson and Lida Wandless.

She is the loving and devoted mother of her son, Richard Coulter (Lynne) and daughter Susan Tschepik (Walter) and proud grandmother of five grandchildren: Mathew and Melissa Coulter and Lauren, Philip, and Nathan Tschepik.

Lida was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She especially loved her role as Mom-Mom and treasured her grandchildren and embraced every moment with them.

She loved her Philadelphia Phillies, bird watching, nature and gardening, reading, traveling, sewing, and volunteering. She was active in the Glenside Presbyterian Church for many years and knitted blankets and sewed outfits for the mission in the Appalachians along with making preemie hats for the Abington Hospital NICU patients. She loved to travel and went on many cruises and trips to Broadway with her close-knit group of friends and enjoyed going to the beach and watching the Fall foliage.

Lida was a dedicated homemaker until her husband passed away in 1978. She returned to the workforce and eventually retired at age 80 from Gloria Dei Towers in Hunting Valley where she worked in the business office. She became quite proficient at the computer to the envy of the younger staff at work.

She eventually moved to Center Square Apartments where she loved her group of friends and then joined the Doylestown Presbyterian Church along with volunteering with Meals on Wheels. At age 90 she took her first flying lesson at Doylestown Airport and was very fond of the handsome ex-fighter pilot was her instructor. She moved to Neshaminy Manor in 2016 and made many friends and continued to enjoy life to the fullest and was loved for her quick-wit and humor. She loved the staff, entertainment and the outside patios where she could birdwatch.

A Service of Remembrance has been scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, February 9th at Doylestown Presbyterian Church, 127 East Court Street, Doylestown, where the family will receive guests from 10 a.m., until the time of the service. Interment will be private.
