Levisa “Tess” Minford Sands, of Pipersville, formerly of Mechanicsville passed away on Saturday, November 24. She was 87 and the wife of the late Richard P. Sands who passed in 2003.
Born in Scarsdale, New York, she was the daughter of the late Rita and Levis Minford.
Tess graduated from Toms River High School and Barbazon School of Fashion Design in New York and attended the New York School of Interior Design. She lived at the Professional Arts Club in New York City.
She was past president of the Junior Women’s Club in New Hope, vice president of Buckingham School in Buckingham and chairperson of the Fine Arts Club in Bucks County. She owned the Plaid Shed in New Hope and had worked for 18 years at Stone House Furniture in Mechanicsville. Tess was elected to the Outstanding Young Woman of America.
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church Solebury for 50 years and Saint Phillips Church for 15 years where she was on the Vestry.
She loved her two Yorkies, Kissy and Kimmy and Golden Retriever, Tucker and she will miss all of her loyal friends.
She is survived by her son Timothy, his wife, Joanne, twin-grandsons: Michael and Scott and granddaughter Katie; son Tommy who was her special caregiver and late son Todd; niece Deborah Dailey; her husband, George and two nephews, Brian and Michael and nephew Dr. Peter Leonard. She was predeceased by her sister, Pamela Minford and her brother, Levis Minford.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Trinity Episcopal Church Solebury, 6587 Upper York Road, Solebury. There will be a viewing Friday, November 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown. Interment will follow the funeral service in Mechanicsville Cemetery, Mechanicsville.
