Konstance Ann McCaffree of Doylestown, PA and Twitchell Lake, Eagle Bay, NY died suddenly on July 25, 2024.
Born in Independence, Iowa, Konnie the only child of the late Frank Klumpar and Elizabeth Edmonds.
She earned a Bachelor Degree from the University of Wisconsin and her Doctorate
Degree from New York University.
She taught for 30 years in high school physical and health education programs and was a pioneer in the development of human sexuality education curriculums. Konnie moved on as a college professor at the University of Pennsylvania and Widener University where she taught classes and mentored graduate students in the field of Human Sexuality Education. Her legacy lives on in the graduate students she taught and mentored as they continue the work she pioneered.
Konnie also helped several countries in developing their national health education programs, training staff and helping develop their national curriculums in all areas of health education. They included South Africa, Zambia, Nigeria and Philippines.
Konnie earned her pilots license and often flew with her partner, John, in their classic
1951 Beechcraft Bonanza.
She was a passionate admirer of German Shepherd dogs, having bred and raised them as well as training them in and teaching obedience classes. In her later years she trained and competed with her dogs in tracking, nose-work, fly-ball, agility and schutzhund, a German discipline where dogs work protection, obedience and tracking. Agility was where she excelled as she had two dogs ranked number 1 and number 2 in the country for German Shepherds. She and her last agility dog, Iako, completed the Agility Grand Championship. He is the only German Shepherd dog to achieve this title.
She is survived by her long term partner, John Deasy, their last German Shepherd, Kazz, cousins: Pamela Edmonds of Ardmore, PA, Patricia Edmonds of Annandale, VA, Tom Edmonds of Golden City, MO, Beth Officer Edmonds of San Antonio, TX, Janice Edmonds Cox of Idaho Falls, ID, Susan Edmonds McLellan of Lahaina, HI/Portland, OR and Laura Edmonds Wilson of Golden City, MO.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., October 19, 2024 in The Webb Room, University Center, Widener University, Chester, PA 19013. RSVP to Brent Satterly ( [email protected] ).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Konnie’s name to charities of your choice which support animal welfare, veterans or first-responders.
