Kathleen S. Histand, formerly of North Wales and Doylestown, passed away peacefully at Elm Terrace Gardens, North Wales on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. She was 66 years old and the wife of the late Darrell Histand with whom she shared 20 years of marriage.
Born in Los Angeles, CA, she was the daughter of the late William H. Spencer and Charlotte Gallo Spencer.
Kathleen graduated from Central Bucks East High School and Alvernia College, Reading, PA. After graduating from college, Kathleen worked as a typist for The Daily Intelligencer, a receptionist at Peddlers Village, and a data entry operator for The Reporter in Lansdale.
Growing up, Kathleen was an avid reader and could always be found cuddled up in a comfortable chair reading Nancy Drew books for hours at a time; and in later years thumbing through all the entertainment magazines to keep up on the Hollywood scoop. She always had an uncanny ability to remember names and dates. Your birthday was never forgotten by Kathleen, neither was your pet’s birthday, or your high school best friend’s birthday. Kathleen loved animals, especially her beloved cat, Lacey. She also enjoyed going out to lunch with dear friends.
Kathleen is survived by her sister, Suzanne S. Brink (husband David); sister-in-law, Kathleen K. Spencer; her mother-in-law, Elizabeth Histand; sisters-in-law: Janice (Regan) Savage, Patricia (Duane) Bishop, and Cindy (Steve) Lamb; brother-in-law, Wendell (Debbie) Histand; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Kathleen was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Charles F. Spencer.
The family would like to thank the Ascend Health Hospice and Elm Terrace Gardens personal care givers for their dedicated care and compassion as Kathleen transitioned to a place of rest.
Relatives and friends are invited to her memorial service at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown, where the family will receive guests from 10 a.m., until the time of the service Interment will follow in Doylestown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in Kathleen’s name to: Animals in Distress, P.O. Box 609, 5075 Limeport Pike, Coopersburg, PA 18036.
