Karen Lynda (Heaton) Cappella, 73, passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, February 22, 2022 after a brave 17 year battle with melanoma.
One of her fondest memories was her childhood growing up in Huntington Valley, Pennsylvania.
Karen was a 1967 graduate of Lower Moreland High School and a 1974 graduate of Arcadia University with a degree in elementary education and English.
Karen met her husband Joe at the Jenkintown train station as both took the train to college in Philadelphia. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June.
Following the birth of their daughter, Mandy, Karen’s life work was a stay-at-home Mom, volunteering at Haycock Elementary, Brownie Troop 1106 and Upper Bucks American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
Karen loved baking, sewing, decorating for Christmas and reading. She had an eye for home restoration and decorating. She and Joe restored their farmhouse in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents: Paul Jefferson Heaton and Beatrice (Griffis) Heaton.
She is survived by her husband: Joseph Albert Cappella and her daughter: Mandy Cappella.
The family would like to thank the doctors of Penn Medicine, visiting nurses of Doylestown Hospital and Grand View, her doctors and the loving support of her family and friends over the years.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown. Interment will follow in Doylestown Cemetery.
