Joyce A. Hanson of Doylestown, passed on October 4th after a brief but valiant fight against pancreatic cancer. She was 80 and is survived by her husband, Steven, her four children: Michael, Christopher, Lori and Jill and their spouses, and six grandchildren (plus one grand-puppy), as well as her two sisters: Sharron and Denise.
A native Michigander, Joyce attended the University of Detroit where she and Steve met. They were married for over 58 years. In addition to being a devoted mother, she embarked on a mid-life career after graduating from Gwynedd Mercy University with a degree in marketing and worked at various businesses including The Intelligencer, Pine Run Village, the Manor and Rydal Park.
She also was very active in her community right up until her death, most notably as a board member and past president of the Village Improvement Association (VIA) that oversees Doylestown Hospital as well as a board member of Doylestown Hospital and the Doylestown Health Foundation. She also twice served as chair of the Designer House Committee of the VIA. In addition, she was a member of the Rotary Club and Doylestown Business Alliance.
Joyce was a generous and devoted friend, a loving mother and wife, and she especially enjoyed spending time with (and talking about) her grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2024 at Reed & Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road Doylestown.
Her funeral Mass is at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 235 East State Street, Doylestown, where the family will greet guests from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m. She will be interred in the Columbarium in St. Mary’s Cemetery at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Doylestown, where she was a parishioner for 46 years.
