Jon Ericson Yerkes

February 17, 1955 — March 3, 2025

Buckingham, PA

Jon Ericson Yerkes, beloved husband and devoted father, left this world on March 3, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on February 17, 1955, Jon's journey began on the very land he would come to cherish—the family farm known as None Such Farm. From the tender age of six, he immersed himself in the world of farming, where a passion for nurturing both the soil and his community blossomed. He cherished the simple yet profound joys that came with growing plants in the greenhouse and the sweet, golden harvest of sweet corn. These moments vividly colored his life, but none shone brighter than those shared with his son, J. Owen Yerkes, on countless tractor rides around the farm—a time when laughter echoed through the fields and wonder filled the air.

Jon’s adventurous spirit and kind heart endeared him to all who knew him. Described as a man who made friends with ease, he extended his warmth and generosity to everyone who crossed his path. A natural traveler, he embarked on many journeys throughout his life, but one notable adventure was an epic three-month odyssey living in a station wagon with his best friend, Carl. Together, they traversed the vast landscape of the United States, weaving a tapestry of incredible stories and unforgettable memories. Jon’s love for travel eventually brought him to Isla Mujeres, Mexico, where he fostered a deep friendship with Tony Martinez. Here, amidst stunning scenery, he would invite friends and family to partake in the joy of fishing and moped riding, savoring the connection with loved ones amid the idyllic surroundings.

An excellent skier, Jon spent many exhilarating days on the slopes across the United States and Europe. The frostbitten winds of winter did not diminish his zeal; rather, they stoked the flames of his spirit. Among his most cherished memories were ski trips taken with Owen and various families, where laughter and joy poured forth as they navigated the picturesque mountains of North America and beyond. In these snowy moments, bonds were forged and treasured, a testament to Jon’s deep love for his family.

Even as he bravely fought against cancer in his final year, enduring multiple surgeries and treatments, Jon could not be swayed from his core philosophy of life. His unwavering good nature persisted through the pain, shining like a beacon to those around him. He exemplified strength and kindness until the very end, proving that even in darkness, love and compassion could light the way.

Jon leaves behind his cherished wife, Karen Yerkes, and his adoring son, J. Owen Yerkes. Through them, his legacy of love, adventure, and the lessons learned from a life well-lived will continue to inspire countless others.
