Joanne Lovatt Rohr, age 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 17, 2022, while residing at Pine Run Retirement Community of Doylestown, PA. She was born in Philadelphia to John J. Lovatt and Eleanor (Gaiser) Allen.
Joanne graduated from Lower Merion High School in 1947 where she was president of the Red Cross club; a member of the choir, swim team, bowling, Spanish, Latin American and art clubs. She continued her education at Peirce Business School (now College). She married the love of her life, Harold W. Rohr, in 1950 and resided in Doylestown ever since. She was a secretary at Rohm and Haas, Shasta Beverages and Jomac company; sold advertisements for the Bucks County Panorama magazine and WBUX radio station; was a teacher’s aide at CB East, worked at the night school at CB West and volunteered as reading support for Linden Elementary. Joanne volunteered as a PTA President, Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader, Sub Deb Club leader, CB Art Goes to School teacher and CCD teacher at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Joanne was a lover of life; to know her was to love her as she saw the good in everyone. She loved to play bridge, travel with her husband, sew, shop and had a keen eye for decorating. You could always count on her for a check-in phone call and a comforting ear to listen. She wrapped her schedule around her children’s and grandchildren’s events; supporting all their endeavors with her presence and her warm and affectionate hugs. If she was not joy-walking the streets of Creek Drive, you could find her with her toes in the sand at her Long Beach Island residence surrounded by her family.
Joanne is survived by four children: Christine Rohr Thompson (Tommy), Aleen McGinty (Brian), John Rohr and Dianne Rohr Devine (Robert); five grandchildren: Heather Thompson (Mark), Alicia Sepulveda (Jason), Stephanie Thomas (Ryan), Ryan Thompson (Lauren) and Ashley Rohr; nine great-grandchildren: Haley, Mark Jr., Jackson, Austin, Hannabelle, Lucas, Isabella, Harper Joanne and Bailey and two sisters: Betsy Jordan (Jack) and Julia Preston.
Joanne was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold W. Rohr and sisters, Eleanor Hughes and Jean Belsterling.
Family, friends and those whose lives Joanne touched are invited to her funeral Mass at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 1 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 235 East State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901, where the family will greet guests from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joanne’s name may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at the address above.
