Joan Theresa Wiley passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 in Doylestown Hospital surround by her loving family. She was 90 years old and resided at Neshaminy Manor for the past 3 years.
Joan was born in Philadelphia to the late John and Kathleen McMenamin. She is preceded in death by her identical twin, Kathleen Davey and her brother, John McMenamin, Jr. She is survived by her four sons and spouses, Michael and Dory, Brian and Cheryl, Patrick and Lisa and Christopher and Carol. She has ten grandchildren who lovingly called her Nani and ten great-grandchildren who sweetly named her Nanai.
Joan was a retiree from Kulick and Soffa but even more importantly she became a volunteer at Doylestown Hospital where she happily volunteered for 25 years, helping guide guests, and was always up for a quick chat. She volunteered at the front desk, the gift shop and also staffed the north desk.
She enjoyed taking her grandchildren fishing and could often be found out at Fanny Chapman on trout opening day. She enjoyed baking, knitting, crocheting, sewing and playing bingo at Neshaminy Manor. She also volunteered at Neshaminy clerical office and at the pretzel stand.
One of her life long dreams was to visit her beloved Ireland, where her McMenamin ancestors originated. In 2019 her dream came true and she traveled to Ireland with the help of her family. She had the chance to visit Germany several times and enjoyed its beautiful architecture, history, and traditions (such as Rififi). She will be dearly missed by many generations of her family as well as friends and family across the world.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, August 19 at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown from Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joan’s name to: Bucks County S.P.C.A., P. O. Box 277, Lahaska, PA 18931.
