Jean H. Seidle

d. March 28, 2022

Jean Helen Seidle of Doylestown, formerly of Plumsteadville, died March 28, 2022. She was 98 and the beloved wife for 60 years of the late Valentine V. Seidle.

Born in Philadelphia, Jean was the daughter of the late John F. “Jack” and Millie A. (Troelsch) Humes.

Jean was a homemaker most of her life. During World War II, she worked as a secretary for an electrical relay manufacturer in Philadelphia. At that time, she became involved with a ladies’ prayer group that met in homes to pray for deployed servicemen. After the war, she met a Navy veteran on the “el” train, marrying Val in 1947 in Philadelphia.

She was an accomplished violinist and formerly played with the Philadelphia Women’s Symphony Orchestra. In addition to music, she enjoyed sewing and knitting and joined other ladies at the retirement home making stuffed teddy bears for local hospitals including CHOP. She also knitted countless baby caps that were given to birthing centers.

Jean is survived by her son, Craig (Judy) Seidle of Plumsteadville, her daughter-in-law, Mary Scheets of Furlong; her grandchildren: Scott, Shawn, Mark Scheets, Eric (Liz), Nate (Rachel) and Hannah (Adam) Jalovick and her great-grandchildren: Chloe, Kya, Jasmine, Harper and Strider, as well as her sister, Nancy (William) Cribbs. She was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Seidle.

Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 2 at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown, where the family will greet guests from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Doylestown Cemetery.
