Jane Y. Kern, formerly of New Hope and Horsham, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 12 at the age of ninety. She was the wife for sixty-five years of the late Edward J Kern.
Born in Doylestown she was the daughter of the late John and Louise Smith
Jane was a graduate of Doylestown High School. She was a valued and resolute employee for many years at Abington Memorial Hospital where she worked in Admissions and later was an integral member of the “Chief of Staff” office. After retiring from Abington Hospital, Jane worked into her eighties, first in the Parish Office at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Doylestown and later at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Buckingham. Jane was a member of the Legion of Mary while a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena. Prior to moving to Buckingham she was a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Guadeloupe.
Jane’s highest calling was to her family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She especially loved gathering the family for Sunday dinners and all holidays, especially Christmas!
Jane is survived by her children: Mary L Kern, Susan T. Lyons, Joan Roberts (Mike) Nancy Pickwell (Richard) and Tim Kern (Amy). She was the grandmother of sixteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren who she loved and adored. She was was predeceased by her daughter, Elizabeth A. Hunter, sister, Joan Bowes and brother, Russell Smith.
A special thanks to the staff at Neshaminy Manor Nursing Home who took such exceptional care of Jane.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral Mass at 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 18 at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 5194 Cold Spring Creamery Road, Doylestown, PA 18902. The family will receive guests from 1 p.m., until the time of Mass. Interment will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, September 25 in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown.
