Irma G. Koester of Doylestown, Pennsylvania died on January 7, 2021 at Doylestown Hospital surrounded by family. She was 88 years old and wife of the late Eric Koester.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Ernst and Josephine Paul Schranz and sister of the late Ernst.
Irma retired as a bank teller from Third Federal Bank in Doylestown after many years of service.
She loved to travel, having taken many trips around the country and visited relatives from the home country in Germany and Austria. She even made it south to Mexico.
Irma expressed her artistic talents in painting, sketching, photography, gardening and decorating her warm and inviting home. She was an avid crossword puzzler, antique enthusiast and rock hunter, always on the lookout for that special piece for the home or perfect flat rock for her rock wall projects. Irma was envied for her beautiful penmanship and spent many hours writing letters to friends and family and a few to the editor of the local newspaper. She loved animals and had a variety of pets throughout her life and was a strong supporter of animal rescue organizations.
Irma was a kind and authentic human being, making friends wherever she went, always smiling and willing to help whoever needed it. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.
She is survived by children: Lori, Carol, Gail, Patti and Bob Jr., as well as ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be private with interment in Doylestown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Irma’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society or an animal shelter or rescue organization of the donor’s choice.
