Gerard Henry Byrne, “Gerry,” a 38 years resident Doylestown passed away unexpectedly on October 14 at 75 years young. Gerry was the loving husband for 54 years of Linda Mandel Byrne.
Born in New York City, Gerry was the son of the late Henry O’Donnell and Catherine Keenan Byrne.
Gerry was a graduate of Chaminade High School, Mineola, NY and Fordham University. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he began a lengthy career with Richardson-Vicks and Procter & Gamble.
A long time member of Buckingham Racquet Club, Gerry enjoyed spending extended time with his children and grandchildren, tennis, walking and reading. As a devoted sports fan, Gerry took great pleasure in cheering on his favorite teams,
the New York Yankees and New York Giants. Among various volunteer activities, Gerry worked with Meals on Wheels and was a past treasurer of Kuilima Estates HOA, Kahuku, HI. Gerry is a long time parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife, Gerry is survived by his five beloved children: Patrick (Kristine) of Suffolk, VA; Elizabeth Lopes (Roberto) of Haleiwa, HI; Michael of Ojai, CA; Brian (Arlete) of Kahuku, HI and Kevin (Jenny) of Sunrise, FL.
Gerry is also survived by 9 cherished grandchildren: Patrick, Holden, Caio, Jade, Vitoria, Vinicius, Vitalina, Lindsey and Jordan, as well as his sister Maureen Papola (Joseph) and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 235 East State Street, Doylestown where the family will receive guests from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Interment will follow Mass in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown.
