Frances M. Stempel, of Doylestown passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018. She
was 97 and the wife of the late Ross E. Stempel who passed in 2015.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late George and Mae
Grenner Murray.
Frances was a longtime member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, a member
of the Altar Society and The Ladies of Mount Carmel, Frances was presumed to
be the longest living member for 60 years, having won women of the year in
1983.
She belonged to the Doylestown YMCA for more than 30 years and volunteered
at the Central Bucks Senior Center. Her two prominent hobbies were reading
and swimming at the YMCA.
Frances, along with Helen Buckman started the school library at Our Lady of
Mount Carmel and later she volunteered in the cafeteria for many years.
Frances is survived by her daughters: Maureen Allu, her husband, Marshall
and Susan Van Ness; her grandchildren: Tracy Albertelli, her husband,
Michael; Erin Allen, her husband, Brad and Glen Van Ness, his wife, Diane
and great-grandchildren: Cecilia and Natalie Albertelli and Patrick and
Andrew Allen. Frances was predeceased by her first husband, Harry Raynor
and her son, Donald Raynor.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral Mass 11 a.m., Tuesday, July
10, 2018, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 235 East State Street,
Doylestown, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Interment will follow Mass in St. Mary Cemetery.
