Ethel Mae Woolslayer (Kennedy) was born in Upper Darby to the late Sameul and Ethel May Kennedy. She passed away peacefully in her home on February 7, 2025.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, James Woolslayer, and her four children: Jean Kessling (Erich), Sandy Detweiler (Joe), Robert Woolslayer, (Jennifer) and Beth Kelly (Mike) and her eight grandchildren Caitlin (Matt), Christopher, Courtney, TJ, Zachary, Daniel, Joshua and Abby.
Ethel attended Upper Moreland High School and then studied nursing at Hannemann. She received her bachelor’s degree from Gwynned Mercy University. She also attended La Salle University and Drexel University to earn accreditations and a master’s degree in nursing.
Ethel was a labor and delivery nurse at St. Mary's Hospital for most of her career. She also enjoyed being a nursing educator at Bucks County Community College.
Ethel loved to read, garden and was the family historian. She loved to travel, with her husband, family and beloved friends.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 15, 2025, Reed & Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown, where relatives and friends will be received from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park. A reception will follow the service at the cemetery.
