Ethel Eola Strand of Doylestown passed away on April 21 at Doylestown Hospital. She was 89 years old and the devoted wife of Carl H. Strand who passed away in April of 2011.
She is survived by her five children: Carl E. Strand (Maria), Virginia G. Eismann (William), Lisa K. Dixon (William), Robert S. Strand (Jill), Christopher C. Strand (Mary Beth), as well as her ten grandchildren.
Ethel was a Doylestown resident for nearly sixty years where she lived in the beloved family home she built with her husband. ln addition to serving as Carl’s personal secretary and managing billing for his real estate development business, she was a long-time member of the administrative staff at Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture.
While in her fifties she attended nursing school and proudly became a licensed practical nurse at Doylestown Hospital. Ethel’s second home was in Harvey Cedars, New Jersey on Long Beach lsland. She loved spending every moment of her summers there with her family and countless dear friends.
Ethel will forever be remembered for her hard work and dedication to her family but mostly for her boundless love of life and positive spirit. She loved to sing and laugh and dance and swim and walk and no matter what obstacles stood in her path she had the unique ability to always see the bright side. All those who had the good fortune to know her would agree lf she had the chance to live her life over again she wouldn’t change a single moment.
Her memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 29 at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown, where the family will receive guests from 10 a.m., until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Doylestown Cemetery.
