Emma Keane

d. July 19, 2016

Emma Keane of Doylestown, died Tuesday, July 19 joining her beloved brothers, her best friend and sister, Rosette and her daughter, Barbara.

Emma was a woman of rare beauty, who loved to laugh and loved her children, son, Michael, grandchildren, Jackie, Judy, Ashley, Lia, Pete and Emma and her great-grandchildren, Shelby, Brennan, Jacob, and twins Liam and Ann.

In conjuring memories of Emma, one sees her in the kitchen, surrounded by family, light around her, cooking up delectable treats with such alacrity that they seemed the result of legerdemain. Her beloved husband Vincent Keane rightly called her a “short-order chef.” Married to her 64 years, he did not miss many opportunities to partake of her culinary magic. It would be hard to envision a happier man than her husband savoring a platter of her pasta before him.

What was most important to Emma was her family. She loved her brothers and sisters and her husband and she spent hours telling stories and listening to Pavarotti. It was the children, however, who gave her greatest joy.

She sought to nurture and encourage and inspire the next generations. She told the young ones stories for hours, often as she fed them in their high chairs. She nursed their wounds of the body and of the heart and she gave them hope and confidence. To Emma, it would be fair to say, “La famiglia ê tutto.”

Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral Mass, 11 a.m., Saturday, July 23 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 235 East State Street, Doylestown, where the family will receive guests from 10 a.m., until the time of Mass. Interment will follow Mass in Mechanicsville Cemetery, Mechanicsville.
