Emily M. Lacher, affectionately known as "Teeny," a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on January 28, 2025, at the age of 91. She was born on November 24, 1933, and spent a significant portion of her life dedicated to both her family and her career.
Teeny’s professional journey was marked by her time as a secretary for the Navy, where she contributed many years to the Naval Air Development Center in Warminster, PA. Her work ethic and commitment were evident in everything she did, but it was her kindness and thoughtfulness that truly defined her character. She especially enjoyed working as secretary for the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) for many years, where she enjoyed finding speakers who educated the members on many important topics.
Her Christian faith was deep-seated, guiding her actions and decisions throughout every phase of her life. This faith not only provided her with comfort but also inspired her to serve others. Teeny always found ways to uplift those around her, offering help with advice and resources to enhance the lives of her family and friends. It was this spirit of generosity that made her so beloved.
Her educational path initially led her to Longwood State Teachers College before she earned her Associate degree from the College of William and Mary. Teeny also pursued her passion for design, acquiring certificates in Interior Design, including a certificate from Middle Bucks Area Vocational Technical School.
Teeny was a woman of distinction, known not just for her accomplishments but also for her striking appearance. She often received compliments for her beautiful skin, always managing to look younger than her years. Her personal style, characterized by stylish leopard print clothing and accessories, mirrored her vibrant personality. She was a sweet lady who embodied grace and warmth.
Teeny had a variety of interests that brought her joy throughout her life. She loved decorating her home, often inspired by the decorating TV shows she enjoyed watching. Current news shows kept her informed and engaged with the world around her. A true connoisseur of life's pleasures, she found delight in chocolate and sweet wine, which she would often share during family gatherings.
One of her proudest accomplishments was her dedication to helping others at the senior center, particularly during tax season. She also took great pride assisting in updating the landscape of the senior center, making it a welcoming haven for all who visited.
Teeny is survived by her son, Richard S. Lacher Jr., her daughter, Liz Youse, her son-in-law, Tim Youse, and her grandsons, Tim and Dan Youse. She is also survived by her brother, William Moore, her sister, Ida Cobb, her brother-in-law, Gary Cobb, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her dearly.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, LCDR Richard S. Lacher, her brother James Powell “J.P.” Moore Jr, her mother, Emily Hawkins, and her stepfather, Bob Hawkins. While we mourn her loss, we celebrate the incredible life she lived, filled with love and a legacy of kindness that will carry on through her family. Teeny will forever remain in our hearts.
