Elizabeth L Kilkenny of Doylestown died Wednesday, July 6th, 2016. She was 71 and the wife of the late William J. Kilkenny, Jr.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Robert J. and Elizabeth Wist Williamson.
Betsy attended Gwynedd Mercy Academy and Gwynedd Mercy College. She started her career with TWA as a flight attendant and flew for 2 years, during which time she married her husband, Bill. Following her career with the airlines, she and Bill had their two boys, Billy and Rob, while completing her undergraduate degree. She began teaching social studies at C.B. West High School where she was an enthusiastic and well-loved teacher touching the lives of hundreds over the span of nearly three decades. During the course of these years, Betsy attained her masters degree at Marywood College.
Her love of travel, adventure, history and unbridled energy prompted Betsy to explore the world making many new friends along the way. Among her pursuits were skiing, the cello, scuba diving and dog rescue. Betsy took great pride in her certification as a handicap ski instructor. Betsy’s faith led her to volunteer as a Eucharistic Minister and a Rosary Leader Minister, for which she was honored with a Marian Award.
Betsy has rejoined her husband, Bill and son, Billy who predeceased her.
She is survived by her son, Rob; her six grandchildren; her sisters, Patti Jordan, Melinda Seefahrt and Kim Snyder (Duke); her brother-in-law, Joe Kilkenny (Marianne), numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many good friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral Mass, 11 am., Wednesday, July 13, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 235 East State Street, Doylestown, where the family will receive guests from 9:30 a.m., until the time of Mass. Interment will follow Mass in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Betsy’s name to a local animal rescue of the donor’s choice.
