Elizabeth Jane “Betty” Petry of Doylestown, died on November 20, 2017 at Phoebe Richland Health Care Center. She was 83 and the wife of Gustav Fred Petry, Jr.
Born in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late William Joseph and
Anna May McEvoy.
Betty was a triplet, along with her siblings, Barbara and Bill. At the time, they received much attention as one of the few surviving sets of triplets born in Bucks County.
She graduated from Doylestown High School, class of 1952. Her parents owned Sandy Ridge Flower Shop on East State Street in Doylestown where Betty worked as a florist for many years.
She was very devoted to her family and raising her children. Betty was a 75-year member of Fanny Chapman Swim Club and a proficient swimmer, the breaststroke being her forte. She enjoyed listening to music and loved to sing.
A kind and gentle temperament garnered her many friends over the years. She would have celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary in January.
In addition to her husband, Betty is survived her daughter, Lynn M. Petry, her husband, Derick M. Higa; her son, Scott D. Petry , his wife, Catherine Chayko; her son G. Michael Petry, his wife, Laurie Spiro; her
granddaughter, Emerson C. Petry, as well as her brother, William Horn McEvoy. She was predeceased by her sisters, Nancy and Barbara.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017 at
Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown, where the family will receive
guests from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Doylestown Cemetery.
