Elizabeth Mae Haring of Plumsteadville, Pennsylvania passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 19th with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren by her side. She was 92 years old and the loving wife of the late Wilson Haring.
Born in Sellersville, Pennsylvania on May 3rd, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Gerhart and Lillian Musselman.
Betty, as she was known by her family and friends, assisted her husband, Wilson, in the day-to-day operations of their family farm and butcher shop, Haring Brothers, until Wilson's retirement in the 1990's.
Betty was deeply committed to her family and her faith, and was a lover of all God's creations. She enjoyed tending to her flower beds, and it was not uncommon for guests to be given a tour showcasing her beautiful flowers or potted plants. She took great pride in keeping her house, and always enjoyed a freshly mopped floor and clean laundry hanging on the line. Betty loved all animals, especially her pet dogs and cats, and could recall the names of each and every one, and would happily tell you a little story about each of them. She absolutely loved feeding the wild birds, and was always making sure that there was plenty of bird seed in the feeders, and fresh water in the bird bath, especially in the winter.
Betty cherished her family and friends, and would regularly host parties, picnics, and holiday gatherings so everyone could come together, swap stories, and enjoy each other's company. She loved to travel, and cruises were her favorite! Be it a family cruise with her husband Wilson and their two daughters in the 70's, cruising with Wilson and their friends in the 80's and 90's, or a girls getaway in the early 2000's, Betty was always up for a little adventure! Betty absolutely loved tradition, and every summer for well over 50 years, she and her family would drive down to the shore for their annual summer beach vacation in Ocean City, NJ. From morning bike rides on the Boardwalk, to lazy days soaking up the sun on the beach, playing a hot game of Rummy 500 on the front porch, and evenings spent enjoying a good meal and a stroll on the Boards, Betty cherished each and every minute of it. Betty never slowed down, and she was always doing something, somewhere with the people she loved. Be it breakfast with her friends from TLA, weekly bowling on the Senior League, or afternoon Bridge games, she was never one to let the dust settle.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Grant, her grandchildren: Jason Lapsley, Michael Lapsley, Emily Burry, Alicia Jantsch; her great-grandchildren: Elianna Lapsley, Aiden Lapsley, R.J Jantsch, niece, Linda Serok, as well as many other nieces and nephews. Betty is preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Haring; her siblings: Dorothy Moyer, Fern Kriebel, Mary Dunlap, Richard Gerhart, Philip Gerhart and Arthur Gerhart.
Her funeral service will be held at 11a.m., Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Solomon's United Church of Christ 2990 Bedminster Rd. Perkasie, where the family will greet guests from 9:30 a.m., until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Mechanicsville Cemetery 3460 Durham Rd. Doylestown, PA 18902.
