Edward M. West, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, embarked on his final journey on April 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Born on April 14, 1951, in Philadelphia, Edward's life was one of both adventure and connection, weaving through the fabric of a world that he made brighter with his infectious spirit.
As a graduate of the William Tennent High School Class of 1970, Edward leapt into life with a passion that ultimately guided him onto the open roads as an over-the-road truck driver. Here, he thrived; he cherished the simplicity of sunsets painted across the sky and the myriad of souls he encountered along the way. His accomplishments included not only the remarkable feat of driving over two million miles but also earning numerous safe driving awards—a testament to his dedication and skill behind the wheel.
Edward was a man who never met a stranger; rather, he turned the everyday into extraordinary with a warmth that was contagious. It was said that wherever he went, he could spark a conversation, a smile, or a lasting friendship. Even during his courageous battle with cancer, Edward carried his trademark spirit into the treatment room, earning the affectionate nickname “the candy man” from chemotherapy nurses as he brought small joys and sweet treats to their day.
Beyond the highways, Edward found tranquility and pride in his hobbies—spending countless hours working on his rig, a passion that soared high as he embraced the role of an owner-operator. His competitive spirit shone bright as he entered truck shows, celebrating the craftsmanship of a vocation he held dear.
But perhaps his proudest achievements lay in the legacy of love he cultivated at home. He is survived by his devoted wife, Peggy J., with whom he shared fifty-three beautiful years of marriage. Together they raised two remarkable daughters: Tammy Aldredge and her husband Neil, and Corinne DeGeiso and her husband Paul. Edward’s heart never swelled prouder than when he spoke of his six beloved grandchildren—Aidan, Liam, Rowan and Maura Aldredge, and Jackson and Emerson DeGeiso—whose accomplishments filled his soul with joy and delight.
As we remember Edward M. West, let us hold close the memories of a man who left an indelible mark on everyone he met, illuminating moments with laughter and camaraderie. Though his presence may no longer grace our roads, the love he shared will echo in our hearts, guiding us through each sunset, just as he would have wanted.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown, where the family will greet guests from 10 a.m., until the time of the service. Interment will follow the service in Beulah Cemetery, 238 Almshouse Road, New Britain.
