Christine J. Rohr Thompson

d. December 26, 2022

Christine J. Rohr Thompson passed away peacefully on December 26 at the age of 71 in the comfort of her home in Plumsteadville.

Even at an early age, Christine found success in everything she did. Beginning with her nomination as School Safety Patrol Lieutenant in elementary school, all the way through her term as President of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority at East Stroudsburg University, Christine was always in the spotlight. She was an officer on the Student Council throughout her time in school and was nominated to numerous homecoming and prom courts, including the Central Bucks High School Sports Queen of 1969. Athletically, Christine excelled in field hockey, basketball and lacrosse. In high school, she was voted most valuable player of for her lacrosse team and is currently a member of the Central Bucks West High School Hall of Fame for women’s basketball. Christine graduated from Central Bucks High School in 1969 and attended East Stroudsburg University, where she again was nominated to the homecoming court and earned 2nd team all-conference for her performance on the lacrosse team.

Following graduation, Christine taught elementary school children in the Central Bucks School District for many years before finishing her teaching career as a school librarian. Christine left such an impression on her students and fellow teachers that in 2010, she had a library annex in Butler Elementary School named in her honor. Christine served as a board member of the East Stroudsburg University Alumni Association and continued to participate in a multitude of charities, including Relay for Life and fundraising efforts through One Hope wine sales.

In 1987, Christine married the love of her life, Tommy Thompson, and soon settled in Plumsteadville, where she resided for the remainder of her life. In 1989, Christine became a mother to her only son, Ryan Rohr Thompson, for whom she maintained a monstrous dedication. In 33 years of motherhood, she never once missed her son’s jazz concerts, sporting events or school functions. Christine was her son’s biggest supporter and made it her top priority to embrace and encourage all his academic and extracurricular interests throughout his life.

Christine loved people and always saw the best in everyone in her life. She was quick with a smile and loved to laugh. When she wasn’t traveling to Europe with family and friends, she would spend her weekends at Long Beach Island listening to the waves crash against the beach. Her life revolved around her friends and family. There was no distance too great for her to attend a friend’s wedding, a niece’s basketball game or a nephew’s baseball game. On the rare occasions when her evenings were free, there was nothing she loved more than to sit down and catch up with family or a friend over dinner or a glass of wine.

Christine is survived by her husband, Tommy Thompson; her son, Ryan Rohr Thompson (Lauren); her granddaughter, Lacey Thompson; her three siblings: Aleen McGinty (Brian), John Rohr and Dianne Rohr Devine (Robert); her four nieces: Heather Thompson (Mark), Alicia Sepulveda (Jason), Stephanie Thomas (Ryan), and Ashley Rohr; as well as her nine grandnieces and grandnephews: Haley, Mark Jr., Jackson, Austin, Hannabelle, Lucas, Isabella, Harper and Bailey.

Christine was preceded in death by her loving mother and father: Joanne Lovatt Rohr and Harold William Rohr.
