Bruce Wayne Love, 62, of Pipersville, PA, passed away at home on Monday, December 30, 2024 after a year’s struggle with cancer.
Born in Abington, PA, he was the son of the late James L. and Betty V. (Durrwachter) Love. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer A. (Lewis) Love; sons: Patrick J. Love of Littleton, CO and Michael A. Love of Pipersville, PA and siblings James D. Love of Milford, PA and Cheryl L. Love of Warrington, PA.
Growing up in Warrington, Bruce worked on his family’s farm and in their produce market. He graduated from Central Bucks East High School in 1980, subsequently earning a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Drexel University and a Master’s degree in Computer Science at The Johns Hopkins University. For more than fourteen years he worked at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD as a flight software systems engineer, supporting several spacecraft programs including GRO (Gamma Ray Observatory) and TRMM (Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission). After moving back to Bucks County, Pennsylvania with his wife in 1999, he led a twenty-five-year career as an embedded software systems engineer in the industrial automation industry.
Bruce was dedicated to his family and was very active in the lives of his sons. He enjoyed visiting historical sites, hiking, birding, and solving puzzles with his family and friends. He was also a hand-tool enthusiast. He found great satisfaction in studying 18th century joinery, practicing woodworking techniques, creating furniture, and volunteering as a historic trade demonstrator.
Bruce will be remembered for his friendliness, intelligence, creativity, and hard work. His gentle, fun-loving spirit will truly be missed.
A funeral service for Bruce will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Hilltown Baptist Church, Upper Stump Road, Chalfont, where the family will receive guests from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be private. A lunch reception will follow the service.
