Blanche J. Myers Emig of Doylestown passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 4, 2016. She was 89 years old.
Born in Doylestown, Blanche was the daughter of the late Horace and Rosecilla (Charles) Michener.
Blanche was happily married for 42 years to the late Hobart “Bud” Myers Jr. of Gardenville and was later blessed to find a second partner in the late Edwin Emig of Plumsteadville, with whom she enjoyed 5 years of marriage.
Blanche worked at various jobs during her life; in the Bucks County Treasurer’s office, Myers Foods and Clymer’s of Bucks County, but her true career was raising her family. When her daughters were young, she was a “stay at home” mom before the term was even used. When the next generation came along, Blanche treasured her 3 granddaughters, who gave her so much joy! Recently, “Grandma” experienced the joy of holding her new great-granddaughter for the first time.
Blanche had happy memories of time spent in Ocean City, NJ over many years. She loved gardening and nature, especially birds, both feeding and watching them. She often told her family about listening to owls during summer evenings. Blanche always loved her pets, most recently a rescue collie named Sadie. When she moved to Wesley Enhanced Living, she sang in the choir, enjoyed music programs and other activities. She was always known for her warm smile and sweet personality.
She is survived by her daughters: Kathy Beck and Karrie Hontz (Ron); her granddaughters, Kaitlin Beck ( Edwin Guerra), Kendal Beck and Kalli Beck, as well as her great-granddaughter, Dawn. Also surviving is her brother, William Michener (Carolyn).
A celebration of Blanche’s life will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 18, 2016 in the Acorn Room at Wesley Enhanced Living, 200 Veterans Lane, Doylestown. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Blanche’s name may be made to: Bucks County SPCA, P.O. Box 277, Lahaska, PA 18931.
