Ashley Russell King, 78, of Quakertown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on July 03, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born on July 27, 1945, in Cobleskill NY, the son of Doris and Ashley King. Ashley’s passion for antiques and clocks defined his life. A free spirit, who traveled extensively, enjoyed entrepreneurial adventures and connected with people to share his vast knowledge. Ashley lovingly cared for and appreciated the many cats in his life. As an adolescent, he achieved the highest level of Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts of America. Ashley served in the United States Air Force. While stationed in Germany, he apprenticed in the art of clock and watch repair, which led him to open an antique shop in the town of Buchenbeuren. After returning to the United States in 1979, Ashley opened The Clock Trader in Bucks County, PA. In addition, he published the Jersey Devil, a flea market, antique and collectible publication in 16 states. As a certified auctioneer, he participated in multiple antique and auctioneer events and associations, sharing his expertise with fellow enthusiasts. His love for reading was matched only by his dedication to educating others. Ashley hosted speaking events at local colleges, teaching the identification, maintenance, and appreciation of antique clocks. His impact extended beyond the classroom; he was well-known in the clock and antique community, leaving an indelible mark. An advocate for antiquarian preservation, Ashley believed in raising awareness and fostering appreciation. He touched many hearts, always ready to lend a hand to those in need. His smile, laugh and generous spirit will be deeply missed. Ashley is survived by his partner Patricia Mullen, his son, David King and Susan King (daughter in law), his daughter, Deborah Cullinan and Kevin Cullinan (son in law); and his five grandchildren. He is also survived by his sibling, Wade King.
